Leaders in Service... Continuing the Journey
Welcome to the District Six Website! District Six is one of fourteen districts in Altrusa International, Inc.
District Six represents clubs in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. Our International Headquarters is located on
South Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois.
Altrusa is a pioneer women's organization, which was established in 1917. It is currently an International Association of business and professional women and men who volunteer their energies and expertise in projects dedicated to enrich our communities. Our main focus is literacy and community service. Altrusa has an International Foundation, which was founded in 1962. This foundation provides Altrusans with the opportunity to provide direct assistance to those in need. We also have a new Astra Club, which was founded in 2007. It provides opportunities for personal development, career planning and promotes citizenship in young people between the ages of 13 and 25.
The District Six theme for this biennium, 2007-2009 is "Leaders In Service: Continuing the Journey". Our symbol
is the compass with the Altrusa Logo at its center. Our previous leaders have provided the tools for our organization
to follow. It is our job to take these tools and use them to guide our journey to enriching our communities.
