Altrusa of Evansville, IN spent MADD at Hillcrest
Youth Home that currently has 15 court appointed residents ages 13-17. Six U
of E
Highlights of the day were Altrusaa' own certified clown Sweetpea who entertained and talked to the residents and when the youth were allowed to pick a book of their own and received a tote with puzzle books, journal, batteries, some school supplies and Halloween candy and trinkets.
Staff feel the interaction with adults, receiving fleece throws and a book that belongs to each resident and participating in a project to help others are very valuable for their children.
Besides the 15 residents, we leave supplies for the next 5 children assigned to Hillcrest and will have impact on the 200+ children at the Boys and Girls Club.
A work day was held at a previous meeting and 15 members worked on preparation of fleece, stamped books and filled totes. A total of 29 people participated with 110 cumulative hours
